The League of Moveable Type

The League of Moveable Type is an open-source type foundry. It started when a fellow designer, Micah Rich, and I saw a thread on a popular type forum, Typophile, calling for an open-source font project. With the possibilities of what we can do with @font-face, it seemed like too good of an idea to just let die. We also realized that there are a lot of free fonts out there, but more than just giving away free stuff, being designers (and most of our work involving the web) we wanted to raise the standard of typography and design on the web.

I designed several typefaces for The League, including: Junction, League Gothic, League Spartan. As of today, some amazing type designers have helped expand both Junction and League Gothic into a different weights, creating a happy extended type family.

We created an open-source type foundry where we focus on quality not quantity, to provide people with hand-picked high quality typefaces.

Junction

The very first typeface we added to The League's font library was Junction, a humanist san-serif typeface I’d designed.

Revival typefaces

I designed two revival typefaces exclusively for The League’s catalogue: League Gothic & League Spartan, both are old classics and two of our favorite typefaces.
