I wanted to create a map of myself that tells a story about me. I decided to map my life by creating a timeline of events that are important to me. The map starts with the year 1987, when I was born, and continue until 2007. The timeline would be my personal identification “card,” which includes my name, my date of birth, and the important events in my life. And for each important event, I created an icon, which appears throughout the timeline tree. The significance of the events determines the size of the icons. The larger the icon the more important it is to me. For each icon, there’s a legend that helps decipher what each icon stands for. I hope by looking at this map someone who doesn’t know me could use the map to discover something about me and know a little bit of my story, just like someone could use a map to get to know places they’re not familiar with.
