The Story

I was born in Surabaya, Indonesia. In 1999, at the age of twelve, I moved to Los Angeles, California. From a young age I’ve always enjoyed making and designing things. When I stopped coloring on my coloring book, I started painting with a watercolor set I got in the 3rd grade. I also recall the first book that I’ve ever designed, my 8th grade book report. The content of the report was mediocre at best, since I couldn’t understand the book because I didn’t speak English very well at the time, but it looked awesome. I spent a lot of time doing the book cover and the designs throughout the book. In the end my teacher gave me a C for the report but an A+ for the presentation.

Eventually, I began to realize that I could turn my passion for art making and designing into a career. So during my senior year in high school, I decided that I should go to an art school to pursue a career in this field. So today I am a senior at Otis College of Art and Design, studying Graphic Design as well as Illustration. Recently, I’ve been doing design works for different people. So far my main focus has been print-based design from identity development to packaging design, though recently I’ve been fascinated by the world of motion and I’m venturing to different areas of design in order to make myself a better designer.
